A woman, aged 44, who is the focus of a murder inquiry in Greater Manchester, has been identified by local sources.
Named Keeley Aspinall, known affectionately as Kiki to her friends and family, she was found deceased in a flat in Rochdale on Monday afternoon.
Authorities discovered her body following a welfare call to a residence on Tweedale Street around 4 pm. She was declared deceased at the location.
Subsequently, a man in his thirties has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder and is being held for questioning, as stated by the police. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding her passing.
In a tribute, Keeley’s family expressed their sorrow, stating: “Gone too soon… we cannot fathom your absence. We will forever cherish and miss you, love from all your family xx.”
A close family friend revealed to the Manchester Evening News that Keeley was like a sister to her, remarking, “She was the finest friend one could have. I will deeply miss her; she will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Heartfelt messages honoring Keeley have flooded social media platforms. Naomi Parkinson shared: “This news is devastating; I knew Keeley from years ago x my deepest condolences to her family xx.”
Paul Ashi commented: “A delightful person, always bringing joy wherever she went.” Meanwhile, Eleanor Smith added: “She was truly wonderful rest in peace Keeley. It’s tragic; she was an amazing person to know. Condolences to her family xxx.”
Authorities set up a cordon while conducting door-to-door inquiries at the property, with forensic specialists also present at the scene.
Temporary Detective Chief Superintendent Jamie Daniels of the GMP’s Major Incident Team, issued a statement on Monday, saying: “We understand the potential distress this incident may cause in the community. We want to assure you that we believe this is an isolated occurrence and does not present any wider risk to the public.”
He further stated: “Recognizing the seriousness of such events, although still in the early stages, our officers are committed to uncovering the full details surrounding this tragic event.
“A cordon will remain in place, and there will be an increased police presence in the vicinity in the days ahead. We appreciate your patience as our investigation progresses.”
