Eight individuals were swiftly transported to the hospital following reports of a mass stabbing incident at a factory in Japan. Police responded to the Yokohama Rubber Factory in Mishima after receiving information about a man breaking into the facility and attacking five or six individuals with a sharp object, as well as pouring a liquid on them, around 4:30 pm local time on Boxing Day. The fire department confirmed that a total of 15 people sustained injuries, with six of them taken to the hospital and the remaining eight receiving treatment on-site. All 15 individuals are reportedly conscious, with eight of them having stab wounds and six exposed to an unidentified liquid. The severity of their injuries is currently unknown.

Law enforcement authorities have arrested the suspected assailant on charges of attempted murder, and an investigation into the incident is currently in progress. Detectives have disclosed that the suspect, who is in his 30s, is believed to have connections to the factory. Situated approximately 2 kilometers southeast of Mishima’s primary train station, the Yokohama Rubber factory occupies about 112,000 square meters and specializes in manufacturing tires for both cars and trucks, as per the company’s official website. As of December last year, the company had a workforce exceeding 980 employees.
