A man has disappeared after encountering difficulties in the water at a beach in Cornwall.
Concern was raised for the man at Polzeath on Sunday, April 19, prompting a response from HM Coastguard. The Polzeath and Boscastle Coastguard Rescue Teams, an HM Coastguard Helicopter, and RNLI lifeboats from Padstow and Rock were all mobilized to Greenaway beach at 4.35pm.
Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that the man is still missing, and search operations in the area are ongoing.
Another individual was also reported to have entered the water but managed to return safely to the shore, as per Cornwall Live.
An HM Coastguard spokesperson stated, “A concern report was received around 4.35pm on April 19 regarding a man in the water near Greenaway beach, Polzeath. Resources were deployed, including Coastguard teams, a helicopter, and lifeboats.”
Additionally, a representative from Devon and Cornwall Police mentioned, “We were alerted by the Coastguard on the afternoon of Sunday, April 19, regarding a man facing difficulties in the water near Greenaway Beach, Polzeath. The man is still missing, and search efforts continue.”
It was also reported that the second individual who entered the water was able to safely return to land.
