The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed receiving a report of an assault outside the licensed premises on the evening of June 18. Two men were reportedly involved in the altercation, resulting in one man being hospitalized for non-serious injuries.
Authorities are conducting ongoing investigations and have urged any witnesses to come forward. Lidl Northern Ireland issued a statement addressing the incident, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of both employees and customers by promptly handling the situation with the assistance of security personnel and police.
The Middle Ale, attached to the existing Lidl store, had just opened its doors for the first time on the same day. Initially facing challenges in proving the need for additional off-licenses in the area, Lidl successfully obtained a pub license after adapting its strategy and highlighting the lack of bars in the vicinity. The pub, featuring a 60-seat capacity, is named Middle Ale in reference to Lidl’s renowned Middle Aisle of discounted products.
