A man and a child are in critical condition following a gas canister explosion that occurred inside a vehicle in West Yorkshire. The incident happened around 2.15 pm on Sunday near the Hare and Hounds Inn on Liley Lane, Mirfield. Emergency services discovered five individuals inside the vehicle, comprising four children and one man.
All occupants sustained severe burns and were promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention. The man, aged 43, and an eight-year-old girl sustained life-threatening injuries. The other three children are believed to have sustained injuries that will significantly impact their lives. West Yorkshire Police stated that there are no suspected foul play involved while investigations are ongoing.
According to Yorkshire Live, the explosion, which took place near Huddersfield, was the result of a gas canister detonation inside a tipper truck. Air ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene following the explosion report. West Yorkshire Police issued a statement indicating that inquiries into the incident are ongoing, with no suspicious circumstances suspected.
