Drivers are experiencing significant delays on two major highways due to a recent collision. The M62 eastbound has one lane closed at junction 11 in Birchwood, resulting in traffic congestion stretching back to junction eight near Burtonwood, as indicated by Google traffic data. Similarly, the M6 southbound is also facing extensive delays with queues forming between junction 21A for the M62 and junction 22 at Winwick.
According to National Highways’ website update, motorists should anticipate 30-minute delays due to the road traffic accident occurring between Junctions 9 and 11. Normal traffic conditions are expected to resume between 9.45am and 10am. Cheshire Police confirmed that they were not required to respond to the incident on the M62, as National Highways is managing the situation.
Further disruptions are predicted on the A57 and A580 between the M6 and Greater Manchester as drivers seek alternative routes to the affected M62. Both the M62 and M6 continue to face heavy traffic, causing delays for commuters this morning following the crash near Warrington.
