Drivers were advised to anticipate prolonged delays as congestion continued to worsen. Inrix, the live traffic service, reported “severe delays” on the M62 following the incident involving three vehicles between junctions 24 and 25 on the eastbound carriageway.
Although National Highways confirmed that the incident had been cleared and all lanes were reopened, a 50-minute delay persisted in the area. Multiple emergency services vehicles, including ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars, were on-site.
Motorists were experiencing hour-long delays in the vicinity of the M62 closure, with congestion stretching at least four miles. National Highways stated that emergency crews were still working at the scene.
