A man has been hospitalized after an accident on the M20 motorway. The eastbound lanes between J8 (Hollingbourne) and J9 (Ashford) are currently closed due to a single vehicle crash, causing significant delays for motorists. The incident, which involved a van striking the nearside barrier and causing a large oil spill covering approximately 100 meters of the road, occurred just before 11 am.

National Highways has provided an update stating that the closure is causing delays of over 90 minutes for drivers approaching the affected area. Additionally, one lane of the westbound lanes is closed with a 45-minute delay. The traffic monitoring site Inrix has confirmed that the M20 remains closed, with congestion extending to surrounding routes as drivers seek alternative paths.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service has reported that a man involved in the collision was transported to William Harvey Hospital for further medical treatment. The road closure and clean-up operation by traffic officers and contractors are aimed at ensuring the safety of the carriageway before it can be reopened.

Motorists traveling eastbound on the M20 are advised to follow diversion signs marked with a hollow circle symbol. National Highways reiterated that the closure is between J8 (Hollingbourne) and J9 (Ashford) due to the single vehicle collision that occurred earlier in the day.
