The collapse of a long-standing UK travel company has left holidaymakers in a scramble as urgent notifications were sent out to those impacted.
Ickenham Travel Group, established in 1970 by CEO Peter Reglar, recently ceased operations as an Atol holder, marking the end of its 55-year tenure. The Civil Aviation Authority revealed this development on November 20, prompting concerns among travelers.
Operating under various names such as Abu Dhabi Holidays, Ras Al Khaimah Holidays, and Letsgo2, the London-based group also managed multiple websites including www.ickenham-travel.co.uk and www.letsgo2.com.
Affected customers with Atol-protected package bookings currently abroad and holding confirmed flight e-tickets need not worry, as the CAA assured that their return flights will proceed as scheduled. Reaffirming the validity of existing bookings, the CAA advised travelers to adhere to their original flight details without making alternative arrangements.
In a crucial announcement, the CAA emphasized the need for travelers to follow up with the airline regarding their flight ticket status.
Efforts are underway to maintain the continuity of other trip components, with the CAA liaising with service providers to mitigate disruptions. For those with Atol flight-inclusive packages holding confirmed flight tickets, the CAA advised consulting with the airline for travel validation.
While flight tickets may be honored, travelers might need to reorganize and cover costs for other services not settled with local suppliers. To preempt any inconveniences at the destination, travelers were urged to confirm all service expenses beforehand.
