Hansard tragically passed away following the Singer Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. The eight-year-old horse, trained by Gary and Josh Moore, was considered a long-shot outsider in the Arkle race but had to be pulled up due to an injury sustained during the race.
A statement released by the Jockey Club confirmed Hansard’s fatal injury during the event, leading to the decision to euthanize the horse for his welfare. Meanwhile, the 2pm Arkle Chase was won by Kargese, under the training of Willie Mullins. Jockey Danny Mullins expressed his joy in partnering with Kargese for the victory, praising the horse’s performance during the race.
