Reddit experienced a global outage this evening, impacting users worldwide, including those in the US and UK. Reports of issues with the Reddit website and app flooded in on DownDetector, with a significant surge in problem reports observed earlier in the evening.
Frustrated social media users took to various platforms to express their discontent with the ongoing outage. One individual on X exclaimed, “#Reddit is down again!”
Earlier on January 18, Reddit encountered errors that affected users’ ability to create and view posts or comments containing images or videos. The company swiftly addressed the issue, resolving it promptly after implementing a fix.
The day before, Reddit users faced increased error rates when posting images or signing up for accounts, a separate issue that was also promptly resolved by the platform.
Notably, thousands of users globally reported issues with the social media platform Reddit. According to DownDetector, over 1,000 users reported problems with the app starting from 9:27 pm on the same evening.
Numerous users from the UK and the US turned to DownDetector to flag problems with Reddit, contributing to a significant spike in issue reports across the platform.
