Former pop star Gary Glitter is accused of sexually abusing a young girl over a three-year period starting in 1978 when she was eight years old. The alleged incidents took place at Glitter’s residence in Kensington, West London. Glitter, 82, whose real name is Paul Gadd, appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court via video link from HMP Channings Wood, Devon. He faces charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14 between 1978 and 1981. During the hearing, Glitter, wearing a cap, blue shirt, and jeans with a goatee beard, struggled to hear and requested adjustments to accommodate his hearing impairment. The prosecutor informed the court that the victim, now in her mid-50s, reported the alleged offenses to the police in January last year. It was mentioned that Glitter befriended the victim and engaged in inappropriate behavior, offering her chocolate during the stated period.
