A man was taken into custody for driving under the influence after he showed up at a crash site in a tractor to pull his pickup truck out of a ditch, where he had crashed it while intoxicated. Authorities in Nassau County, Florida responded to a report of a pickup truck accident in Callahan on June 24. Upon arrival, a witness informed deputies that the driver had already left the scene and headed to a nearby residence.
Bodycam footage revealed the white pickup truck lodged in a grassy ditch by the roadside. A voice in the footage mentioned the driver’s plan to use a tractor to extract the truck and then return for the tractor. The driver eventually reappeared on the tractor to retrieve his truck from the ditch.
The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the driver, who remained unnamed, failed a sobriety test conducted by officers after stumbling upon his arrival at the scene. Subsequently, he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
Deputies also discovered a 15-pack of cold beer and multiple open containers inside the man’s pickup truck. A statement from the Sheriff’s Office emphasized that DUI laws apply to all motor vehicles, including tractors, and urged individuals not to drive under the influence.
