An tragic incident in Northern Ireland has left three members of a family dead, including an eight-year-old girl, in what is believed to be a double murder-suicide. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) reported that the bodies of a man, a woman, and a young girl were discovered at a residence in the Old Cullybackey Road area of Ballymena.

Superintendent William Calderwood, the Mid & East Antrim District Commander, confirmed that the authorities are treating the deaths as a “double murder followed by a sudden death.” The police responded to a report of a sudden death at the location around 9am, where the tragic discovery was made.

The deceased individuals, a 41-year-old man, a 39-year-old woman, and the eight-year-old girl, were all found inside the home. The PSNI stated that there is no suspicion of anyone else being involved in the incident and assured that there is no ongoing risk to the public.

Superintendent Calderwood expressed condolences to the grieving family members, emphasizing the need for privacy and respect during this difficult time. Specialist officers are supporting the families affected, and the police are working closely with the Polish Consulate to handle the situation appropriately.

While awaiting the results of post-mortem examinations, the authorities are maintaining an open investigation but have a strong belief that the incident was a double murder followed by a sudden death. The police are not seeking any other individuals in connection with the tragic deaths at this stage.

The community has been deeply shocked by the event, and the police are engaging with local representatives as they continue the investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Law enforcement encourages anyone with relevant information, CCTV footage, or dash-cam recordings to come forward to aid the investigation.
