Chaos ensued during a crowded flight when an enraged passenger went on a strange tirade, berating the crew for using English and disregarding basic safety protocols. The incident occurred on an AirAsia X flight traveling from Chongqing, China, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 22. Witnesses observed the woman standing up during the in-flight announcements.

As the flight attendants relayed instructions in English and Malay, she erupted, questioning why a global flight did not communicate in Chinese and asserting her Chinese identity. The situation escalated when she refused to switch her phone to flight mode during taxiing.

When another passenger started recording the incident, the disruptive woman became uncontrollable, claiming to be an off-duty flight attendant from a different airline and insisting that she was part of a reality show. Despite crew attempts to pacify her, she adamantly refused to cooperate, prompting the pilot to make the decision to return the plane to the gate, leading to a two-hour delay as security intervened.

Authorities eventually removed the unruly passenger for causing a disturbance on the aircraft, allowing the flight to resume its journey, albeit with some passengers missing connecting flights and facing significant delays. AirAsia X’s management commended the crew for their handling of the situation, emphasizing the importance of safety and following established procedures.

In a separate incident earlier in the year, two passengers were expelled from a Jet2 flight bound for Manchester by Belgian authorities following an onboard brawl captured on camera. The disruptive behavior led to the flight being diverted to Brussels before continuing to its final destination. Jet2 announced that the unruly passengers would be banned from flying with the airline permanently due to their unacceptable conduct.
