Heroic police officers bravely entered a canal in an attempt to rescue an elderly man whose Range Rover veered into the icy water. Despite their courageous efforts, the man tragically succumbed to the incident. The 74-year-old driver was successfully extracted from the water but unfortunately passed away at the scene.
The heartbreaking event unfolded near Saltaire, Bradford on Sunday night when authorities responded to reports of a silver Range Rover Evoque submerged in the canal. Distressing images from the location depicted the vehicle fully immersed in the chilly waters.
Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, with officers fearlessly venturing into the water to rescue the driver. Despite managing to retrieve him from the vehicle, the man sadly lost his life despite desperate resuscitation attempts. Despite receiving urgent medical attention on-site, he tragically passed away before he could be transported to a hospital.
Authorities have urged any individuals with pertinent information to come forward to aid in the investigation. A representative from West Yorkshire Police stated, “Police are investigating a fatal road traffic collision resulting in a man’s death in Saltaire. Medical assistance was provided to a 74-year-old man, but regrettably, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
