The will of Katharine, Duchess of Kent, has been disclosed, revealing her million-pound estate distributed among her children and selected charities. The beloved Duchess passed away in September 2025 at the age of 92, surrounded by her family at Wren House in Kensington Palace.
Nearly a year later, probate records unveiled on Monday disclose that the majority of her seven-figure fortune was bequeathed to her three children: George Windsor, also known as Earl of St Andrews, Lady Helen Taylor, and Lord Nicholas Windsor.
According to the probate records, the Duchess, who was married to the late Queen’s cousin, the Duke of Kent, left an estate of £1,433,206 in the UK after settling liabilities from her total £1,433,696.
Additionally, the late Duchess allocated £10,000 to the charity Future Talent Musicians, which she co-founded in 2004 to support talented young musicians from underprivileged backgrounds. Furthermore, she left legacies of £5,000 each to her nine godchildren.
Her personal possessions, including jewelry, furniture, and household items, were entrusted to her husband, the Duke of Kent, with instructions to distribute them according to her wishes.
The Duchess’s will, signed as ‘Katharine Kent’ on October 5, 2022, specified leaving her interest in a property in Edwardes Square, Kensington, to her grandson. She also designated the income from her family trust to her husband during his lifetime.
Typically, the wills of senior Royal Family members remain sealed for at least 90 years. However, the Duchess’s will was made public possibly due to her withdrawal from royal duties in 2002.
Following her passing, tributes were led by the Prince and Princess of Wales, highlighting the Duchess’s dedicated charitable work and love for music. They expressed condolences to the Duke of Kent and their family, emphasizing the Duchess’s significant contributions and presence within the Royal Family.
