A man has been taken into custody following an incident where a vehicle reportedly rammed into a group of individuals waiting at a bus stop.
In Giessen, Germany, a 32-year-old individual from Azerbaijan was apprehended after a car collided with a crowd of people following an initial impact with two other vehicles.
The occurrence resulted in three individuals sustaining injuries, with one person being severely harmed. Law enforcement authorities have classified the incident as an accident.
Authorities are still uncertain about the motives behind the individual’s actions in driving into the group. A significant police operation is underway near St John’s Church, with a substantial area cordoned off for investigative purposes.
According to the police statement, the driver of an Audi crashed into a bus stop around 4:30 pm, causing injuries to three individuals, one of whom was seriously hurt.
It is believed that the 32-year-old driver was traveling on Westanlage towards Südanlage. After colliding with two vehicles at the traffic light intersection with Frankfurter Straße, the driver continued along Südanlage towards Goethestraße, where the collision with pedestrians occurred at the bus stop.
The driver, a resident of Gießen and originally from Azerbaijan, proceeded along Goethestraße to Johannesstraße, where law enforcement detained him.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet clear and are currently under investigation.
