Downing Street has accused JD Vance of attempting to meddle in UK democracy and incite discord in our communities by involving himself in the controversy surrounding Henry Nowak’s murder.
The US Vice President pointed to immigration as the cause of Mr. Nowak’s death, portraying it as a symptom of the decline of British society. He criticized the police for their alleged lack of trust and care for Mr. Nowak, whose killing has been exploited as a divisive issue by right-wing politicians.
In response, a spokesperson from Downing Street stated, “Recent events have shown individuals trying to disrupt our democracy and sow division in our neighborhoods. The Nowak family is mourning the loss of Henry after his tragic murder. They have explicitly stated their desire for his death not to be exploited to fuel further division, animosity, or tension. It is crucial to respect their wishes. Our politics should unite people even in the face of the most horrific circumstances, reflecting our national values.”
Following claims by Digwa of being a victim of a racial assault, violent protests erupted. Meanwhile, Mr. Nowak was reportedly handcuffed by police, disregarding his pleas for help as he struggled to breathe before succumbing.
Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, has been accused of inciting unrest against the wishes of Mr. Nowak’s family by calling for “rage” in response to the tragedy. Mr. Vance has continuously criticized the UK, alleging a decline in conscience rights that poses a threat to the fundamental freedoms of religious Britons.
He also characterized the UK as a “truly Islamist” nation, a depiction countered by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner. He condemned what he described as restrictions on free speech in Britain.
The US State Department recently accused Britain of practicing “two-tier policing” and engaging in “ideological conditioning,” which it deemed indicative of a civilizational decline.
Mr. Vance reinforced this criticism, stating, “Henry Nowak died in a manner akin to the death of a civilization: forsaken, handcuffed by authorities who neither trusted nor cared for him, and falsely accused of hate crimes.”
He further echoed Mr. Farage’s contentious rhetoric, proclaiming, “The appropriate response – the sole response – is righteous indignation.”
Mr. Vance concluded, “We cherish our civilization. We cherish our nation. We cherish our children. No one – absolutely no one – should meet the fate that befell Henry Nowak. May God provide solace to those who loved him, and may his soul rest in peace.”
A spokesperson from Downing Street later emphasized that an investigation was underway into Mr. Nowak’s case, acknowledging the significant public concern it has generated.
However, she rejected any insinuation of dual policing standards across the United Kingdom. When questioned about the UK’s relationship with the US, she affirmed its enduring strength.
