A crash on the M1 motorway last night led to traffic delays as emergency services responded to the incident. The collision occurred shortly after 11pm, as reported by National Highways. Southbound traffic between J16 and J15A near Northampton was halted due to the crash.

Emergency services and traffic officers were present at the scene for vehicle recovery operations, and the road has since been fully reopened. Commuters were advised to allocate extra travel time in the area.

All lanes are now accessible on the M1 southbound between J16 and J15A near Northampton, with the earlier collision cleared and no remaining delays reported. However, one lane remains closed for ongoing vehicle recovery, with National Highways cautioning drivers to anticipate delays on the motorway.

A two-mile congestion buildup was observed as traffic resumed following the temporary hold on the M1. National Highways confirmed the closure of Lane 1 and the junction 15A exit slip road for vehicle recovery.

Traffic cameras showed a standstill on the southbound M1 between junction 16 and junction 15A, with emergency services on-site managing the crash details. Motorists were urged to avoid the affected area and expect delays as the situation unfolded.
