A written note believed to be a suicide letter by Jeffrey Epstein while in prison has been reportedly kept confidential for almost seven years. The note, penned by the disgraced financier, was allegedly locked away in a secure vault at a New York courthouse.

The letter came to light in July 2019 when Epstein’s cellmate found it after Epstein was discovered unconscious with a cloth around his neck. Although Epstein survived that incident, he was later found dead in jail. Recently, The New York Times has requested the judge to unseal the note, which reportedly includes the phrase “time to say goodbye,” according to the cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione. The note had been sealed by a federal judge in connection to Tartaglione’s own legal case.

This hidden note has posed a challenge for detectives investigating Epstein’s death, as it could have been a crucial piece of evidence. Allegedly, a two-page document in the records details how the note got intertwined in Tartaglione’s legal proceedings. Tartaglione’s legal team purportedly verified the authenticity of the note, although the methodology used for verification remains undisclosed.

Despite numerous calls for transparency in the investigation, the contents of the note have not been divulged even after Tartaglione briefly mentioned it in a podcast last year. The Justice Department has released a substantial amount of documents related to Epstein since December.

Tartaglione, a former police officer serving four consecutive life sentences for four murders, encountered a conflict with Epstein in July 2019, but later retracted his accusation, stating they had no issues. The Justice Department has declared that it has not reviewed the note and made extensive efforts to gather all relevant records.

Tartaglione mentioned finding the note hidden in a graphic novel after Epstein relocated within the jail. According to Tartaglione, the note indicated investigators found nothing substantial in their probe into the sex offender. The note reportedly contained the message: “What do you want me to do, bust out crying? Time to say goodbye.”

Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, with the cause of death determined as suicide.
