Cheryl Tweedy was recently seen in public for the first time following the disturbing incidents involving her ex-partner Liam Payne and her stalker. Last month, Daniel Bannister, aged 50, was handed a one-year prison sentence for violating a previous restraining order that had been placed against him in relation to the Girls Aloud singer.
This marked the third time Bannister had been imprisoned for his persistent attempts to contact Cheryl, who is 42 years old. During the court proceedings at Reading Crown Court, it was revealed that Bannister had caused Cheryl great distress and fear by showing up at her Buckinghamshire residence for the fourth time in June.
After facing these challenges, Cheryl was seen attending the Hadestown Gala Night alongside her friends Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle. The purpose of her attendance was to support her bandmate Nicola Roberts, who is currently starring in the West End musical until January next year.
At the Gala Night held in central London, Cheryl sported an autumn-themed outfit, donning a brown coat and showcasing a new hairstyle with bouncy curls framing her face.
Furthermore, following Bannister’s sentencing, Cheryl’s legal representative, Leandra Smith, read out a statement in court where Cheryl expressed her dismay and fear over the repeated incidents involving her stalker. She highlighted how the situation had affected her and her young child, leading to a constant sense of unease and reliance on security measures and support from loved ones.
Cheryl’s public appearance comes in the wake of the tragic passing of her former partner, Liam Payne. The former One Direction member met a fatal accident on October 16, 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The cause of death was determined to be severe injuries resulting from the fall.
Cheryl and Liam were in a relationship from 2016 to 2018 and welcomed their son Bear in 2017. Despite their separation in 2018, they continued to co-parent their son. Cheryl was last seen attending Liam’s funeral in November of the previous year.
