CBC will expand its coverage of Canadian curling through a new five-year broadcast deal that will bring increased playoff coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling and all Rock League games to its platforms. The agreement with The Curling Group, unveiled on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined TV coverage on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.
A significant aspect of the deal for CBC is its involvement with Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, will return to CBC in January 2027, with all games accessible on CBC television and CBC Gem. Selected games will also air on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Rock League comprises six mixed-gender franchises with curlers from various countries. The second season will feature events on specific weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
In addition, CBC will play a larger role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet will continue as the primary broadcaster for the five Grand Slam events, beginning in October. Three draws will be shown daily from Tuesday to Friday, with CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. Sportsnet will broadcast the championship finals on Sundays, while CBC will also air selected finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will be streamed on Rock Channel.
The new agreement builds on CBC’s extensive history with curling, providing the broadcaster with an increased presence at major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed excitement about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide. The agreements with The Curling Group will help both the Grand Slam and Rock League reach a broader national audience, according to Nic Sulsky, CEO and co-founder of The Curling Group.
Over the next five years, Canadian viewers can expect more ways to follow both the Grand Slam playoff weekends and the upcoming season of Rock League on CBC.
