Two women were thrown to the ground while savoring a coffee when a car crashed into a cafe in Melbourne, Australia. The incident occurred at Bakers Choice on Watsonia Road in the city’s northeast around 2:30 pm on Wednesday, May 13.
CCTV footage captured the distressing moment as the women were ejected from their seats by the impact of the car hitting their chairs. One woman was pinned under the vehicle, which then collided with the adjacent cafe. She was promptly taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in serious condition, while the other woman was transported to Austin Hospital.
Fortunately, both women are currently in stable condition. Witness Tony Rabie, an employee at the neighboring cafe, described the chaotic scene following the collision, mentioning screams and the sound of breaking. The driver of the white Toyota Camry, which had been parked near the outdoor seating area, lost control of the vehicle while departing, leading to the accident.
Victoria Police stated that no charges were pressed in connection with the incident.
