“Canada Women’s Basketball Stays Undefeated in FIBA Pre-Qualifier”

The Canadian women’s basketball team wrapped up the group stage of the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Guadalajara with a 70-64 victory over Mexico on Thursday evening. Yvonne Ejim led the way with 19 points as Canada extended their perfect record to 3-0, while Syla Swords contributed 17 points to the win. Mariana Valenzuela scored 17 points for Mexico in the match.

In the upcoming semifinals on Saturday, Canada is scheduled to face New Zealand, while the host team will take on Brazil. The tournament final is slated for Sunday. The ultimate winner will secure a place in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
