A California teacher, Cole Allen, is suspected of targeting President Donald Trump in an alleged assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington DC. The incident occurred on Saturday night, prompting a swift evacuation of Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other officials. Allen, a part-time tutor and games developer, was apprehended at the scene and is set to face charges in Washington.
Social media posts by Allen, under the username ‘Coldforce’, have resurfaced, portraying Trump as a malevolent figure and criticizing the administration. Allen’s online statements included calling Trump a “sociopathic mob boss” and a “satanic idolator.” Furthermore, he expressed disdain for JD Vance and questioned his decisions regarding Ukraine funding.
In a separate post, Allen questioned the authenticity of Trump’s Christian faith, particularly denouncing an AI-generated image of Trump as Jesus. Authorities suggest Allen traveled from California to Washington alone, where he checked into a hotel before the incident unfolded at the gala dinner.
During the event, Allen attempted to enter the ballroom but was swiftly subdued by Secret Service agents, resulting in gunfire. US Attorney General Todd Blanche suggested that Allen’s target may have been individuals within the administration, including the president.
Following the incident, Trump emphasized the need for increased security measures, citing plans for an enhanced East Wing at the White House. Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, highlighted the necessity of a “Militarily Top Secret Ballroom” to prevent such occurrences in the future.
