A young boy from Calgary who was rescued after a near-drowning incident in a river in British Columbia is currently recovering in a hospital, with reports indicating severe damage to his lungs. The incident involved nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren, who was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3. When he failed to resurface after diving, beachgoers quickly intervened and pulled him out of the water shortly after he went missing. According to an official statement from the RCMP, the boy was caught against fallen deadwood by the river’s strong current, and rescuers performed CPR after bringing him to the shore. Authorities estimate that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes.
The boy is now being treated at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, with his family offering constant support at his side. Maria Warren, the boy’s mother, emphasized her continuous presence by his bedside, expressing her desire for him to see her and hear her voice as soon as he regains consciousness.
