British holidaymakers traveling to popular destinations on package vacations will now have a restriction of six alcoholic drinks per day as part of new regulations aimed at curbing disruptive behavior. This limitation applies to various Balearic Islands in Spain, including Majorca, Magaluf, and Ibiza, following complaints from locals about rowdy conduct during peak holiday periods.

Implemented under the Responsible Tourism guidelines, hotels are prohibited from serving more than six alcoholic beverages to guests on package deals daily, with additional drinks available for separate purchase. Additionally, individuals caught consuming alcohol in public will face a fine of £2,600.

Simon Hood, the executive director of John Mason International, highlighted the adoption of Responsible Tourism rules in Majorca and Ibiza in response to concerns raised by residents due to overtourism. Although these regulations were initially introduced in 2024, recent amendments have been proposed, which many British tourists might not be aware of.

Holidaymakers booking all-inclusive packages or participating in bar crawls will also be impacted by these regulations. For instance, restrictions on all-inclusive drinks have been enforced in party-centric areas like Magaluf, Playa de Palma, and San Antonio. Guests on all-inclusive packages are limited to a maximum of six alcoholic beverages per day, to be consumed during lunch and dinner.

Hood emphasized that while the rules may appear stringent, tourists can still enjoy a few drinks by the pool, but they should be mindful of their behavior. He advised visitors to respect the surroundings and adhere to the guidelines to promote harmony between locals going about their lives and tourists relishing their vacations.

In conclusion, the aim of these measures is to strike a balance between the local community’s needs and the enjoyment of holidaymakers. Hood’s advice to travelers is to have a great time while being mindful of the rules in place.
