Tragedy struck as a British wellness coach and cancer survivor passed away following a supposed detox ritual involving a substance made from the toxic skin of an Amazonian tree frog.

Kristian Trend, aged 40, reportedly collapsed at his residence in Leicester after ingesting Kambo, a drug derived from the poisonous dried skin secretions of the giant leaf frog. Although Kambo is legally available for purchase in the UK, it has been prohibited in several countries, including Australia and Chile.

Angie, the mother of the deceased, is advocating for the banning of alternative medicine practices after the loss of her son. The use of Kambo has been on the rise in Europe, with individuals embracing its toxic properties in pursuit of transformative experiences.

In an emotional interview with The Telegraph, Angie revealed that her son, described as highly spiritual, had expressed intentions of self-purification through the ritual. She expressed uncertainty about the events leading to his demise, emphasizing that the results of tests are still pending.

Having battled Burkitt lymphoma cancer and narrowly survived, Kristian had shared his journey of seeking higher purpose and holistic wellness after a dire cancer diagnosis at a young age. His untimely death coincided with his birthday week, adding to the family’s grief.

While the exact cause of Kristian’s death remains unconfirmed, authorities are investigating a potential link to Kambo. Leicestershire Police disclosed that a man had fallen ill at a residence in Leicester and subsequently passed away in the hospital. Another individual, aged 41, was arrested on suspicion of administering poison in connection to the incident.

Kambo, also known as Sapo, lacks authorization from the UK regulatory bodies as a medicinal substance. Angie is urging for the banning of Kambo, citing personal tragedies and expressing a lack of strength to pursue the cause.

Family and friends of Kristian have initiated a fundraiser for the Loros hospice charity in Leicestershire in his memory, highlighting his dedication to the cause. They aim to raise funds by selling the remaining stock of his plant-based energy drink, with proceeds directed towards charity.

The Home Office affirmed its collaboration with health authorities to monitor potentially harmful substances. A spokesperson conveyed condolences to Kristian’s family and advised caution when considering alternative therapies to safeguard public health and well-being.
