A British woman is reportedly facing potential execution by firing squad in Dubai following allegations of killing a man she met online. Brooke George, a former John Lewis employee, is currently detained at Bur Dubai prison in the Gulf city after being accused of fatally stabbing a 26-year-old British man. Detained in Dubai, a group advocating for her family, claims that George acted in self-defense.

George, known as a TikTok influencer with a million followers, is accused of murdering the man with a kitchen knife. The incident allegedly occurred during her second trip to Dubai, where she met the man through Facebook and was invited for a photoshoot.

According to George’s account, the altercation took place after a night out at Caffreys Bar in Jumeirah Village. She stated that she was attacked, leading her to defend herself with a nearby kitchen knife. Despite attempting to flee with the help of friends, she was apprehended at Dubai International Airport on June 22 and now faces a murder charge that carries the death penalty.

Following her arrest, George claimed she was denied legal representation and subjected to a distressing experience of being forced to undress in front of male officers. Her mother expressed deep concerns for George’s well-being, emphasizing her daughter’s fear and desire to return home.

Detained in Dubai’s CEO is urging authorities to view the incident as a case of domestic abuse, advocating for George’s release on bail during the investigation. The organization highlights the importance of protecting George’s rights, ensuring a fair trial, and thoroughly examining the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Concerns have been raised about the treatment of women in Dubai, with reports of exploitation and abuse targeting social media influencers, models, and travelers enticed by false promises. Detained in Dubai is calling for a fair and thorough investigation into George’s allegations, emphasizing the need for her protection, medical care, legal representation, and British consular assistance.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has been contacted for comment on the situation.
