Sienna’s family, from Aberdare, Wales, had secured tickets for a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida, but their plans were jeopardized when the girl’s travel insurance became void due to her medical condition. The initial insurance quote for the family-of-five was £232, but after Sienna’s diagnosis, the cost for her alone skyrocketed to £5,083.
Sienna’s mother, Emma Louise Lloyd, expressed disbelief at the situation, highlighting the emotional impact on her daughter who had been eagerly anticipating the trip with her family. The family’s joyous Christmas surprise about the upcoming holiday was followed by a distressing revelation of Sienna’s health condition just weeks later.
Sienna’s diagnosis of grade 1 glioma, a benign brain tumor affecting her vision, came as a shock to her loved ones. Despite efforts to find alternative insurance coverage, the costs remained prohibitive for the family. In response, a fundraiser was initiated to aid in covering the expenses, with the excess funds to be donated to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.
