A prominent airline has suddenly canceled all its summer flights, causing passengers to seek refunds amid uncertainty surrounding their travel arrangements.
Beond Airlines has announced the suspension of all services between the Maldives and Europe, as well as routes through Dubai, with flights not expected to resume until at least October.
Initially citing a temporary break in its European routes, the airline now appears to have shut down its entire network, including connections in the Middle East, rather than making limited adjustments.
Affected customers are being contacted and provided with options such as rescheduling for a later date, receiving travel credit valid for up to a year, or obtaining full refunds.
Interestingly, the airline quietly retracted its previous assurance of business-class rebooking on other carriers in case of disruptions, prompting concerns among travelers.
Founded in 2023 as an exclusive all-business-class airline, Beond had primarily focused on luxury travel between Europe and the Maldives. However, financial challenges and operational strains, exacerbated by soaring fuel expenses for long-haul flights, particularly for smaller airlines with restricted resources, seem to have led to the airline’s current situation. Beond operates with just two aircraft, an Airbus A319 and Airbus A321.
Online indications of change have surfaced, with the airline removing certain sections from its website, including customer guarantees and prior expansion declarations.
Despite previous ambitious growth plans and new destination proposals, some of which never materialized, doubts loom over Beond’s ability to resume operations after its summer break.
