A mother is being sought after she went missing during a swimming trip on a picturesque Caribbean island.
Elizabeth Waddell, aged 44, was residing at the Grand Anse, a well-liked tourist spot in St. George, Grenada.
The American woman was accompanied by a friend when she opted to take a swim but did not return.
Her friend became anxious after a few hours as Elizabeth had left her phone behind. Amanda Romano-Harmon, a close friend of Elizabeth, recounted the incident.
“She was in her swimsuit and stepped out of their Airbnb,” Amanda shared.
“They had a pool that had a view of the bay. Liz was out there admiring the scenery from the pool, while her friend was busy with an online course.
“When her friend finished the course and didn’t see Liz outside, she went out to look around and noticed her towel on the pier. So, our assumption is that she went for a swim.”
A report of a missing person has been lodged.
Cailen, Elizabeth’s husband, has made an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
“Facebook Friends. My wife Liz is missing in Grenada,” he posted on July 24.
“If any of you have connections on the island – please share this with your contacts there. Liz disappeared on Wednesday afternoon.
“I am en route to aid in the search.
“I am optimistic about Liz’s safe return – please send your love, thoughts, and prayers our way.”
Cailen and his daughter landed in the country to assist with the search.
“The police have been incredibly supportive,” he informed WRAL News.
“The inquiry is ongoing. They have been highly communicative and appear to be doing everything possible to locate her.”
Amanda, a friend of the couple for 25 years, mentioned that both Cailen and his daughter have divided tasks to maximize search efforts.
The Royal Grenada Police force is coordinating with fishermen, boat operators, and locals along the southern coastline to ensure Elizabeth’s safe return.
