Ten individuals from Toronto who were part of a group on a journey in Nepal are currently missing following a devastating flash flood incident in the region. The group was organized by the Isha Foundation, a non-profit spiritual organization in North America. Leslie Crespi, a representative of the foundation, stated that out of the 80 members of the group, 10 are from Toronto. The group, including 12 Canadians, was returning from the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimage in Tibet when the flash flood struck the area where they were present.

Efforts to establish contact with the missing individuals have been unsuccessful since the incident. Families of the group members are deeply affected by the unexpected tragedy. Community leaders in Mississauga held an emergency meeting to discuss ways to locate the missing individuals and seek assistance from the Canadian government in the rescue efforts.

Global Affairs Canada confirmed that there are approximately 30 Canadian citizens and permanent residents missing in Nepal and Tibet. Consular officials are actively working to make contact with them and ensure their safety. The Canadian government is deploying resources to support the affected individuals and collaborate with local authorities and international partners.

In response to the disaster, GlobalMedic, a relief organization based in Etobicoke, has offered to provide assistance to Nepal, including water purification units, emergency kits, and drones for search and rescue operations. Their support aims to address the immediate needs of those impacted by the catastrophic event and aid in recovery efforts.
