Presley Gerber, the 27-year-old son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, passed away on Sunday, confirmed by a family spokesperson. The Santa Monica Police Department is looking into the circumstances surrounding Gerber’s death, currently treated as a suspected overdose. No evidence of foul play has been identified at this time, as stated in an official announcement. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death.

Gerber, known for his work as a model and advocate for mental health, died at a rehabilitation center in Los Angeles, according to records from the L.A. County Medical Examiner. A postmortem examination was conducted by the medical examiner’s office on Monday. The office reported that additional testing and studies are needed to establish the cause and manner of death, indicating a delay in reaching a conclusion for such cases.

The investigation is ongoing, and limited information is available, as confirmed by the medical examiner’s office in an email to CBC News. His death was recorded at 9:45 a.m. on September 20 by paramedics, with the Santa Monica Police Department leading the investigation. Details regarding the cause of death are currently undisclosed.

Allie Jenkins, a representative for Crawford and Rande Gerber, officially verified Gerber’s passing. In a statement, Jenkins requested privacy for the family during this challenging time. Presley was the elder sibling of model and actress Kaia Gerber.

Known for his work with brands like Calvin Klein and Dolce & Gabbana, Gerber appeared in various campaigns and runway shows. He notably featured in Pepsi’s Super Bowl LII commercial alongside his mother in 2018. Gerber had been candid about his mental health struggles and substance use, initiating a series titled “Mental Health Mondays” on Instagram to encourage open discussions on sensitive topics.

In a deleted Instagram video from December 2025, Gerber discussed his use of medications like buprenorphine, Xanax, and Valium to manage panic attacks. His sister Kaia Gerber addressed his challenges in an interview with Vogue magazine in August, highlighting how such events impact the entire family.

For those in need of support, resources like Canada’s Suicide Crisis Helpline and provincial mental health services are available. Kids Help Phone and guidance from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health also provide assistance for individuals facing mental health challenges.
