This win holds special significance as Jamieson’s father clinched the same race in 2006. Expressing his elation, Jamieson described the victory as a dream come true, highlighting the race’s prestige compared to other significant wins he has achieved.
With a prize purse of $100,000, the Gold Cup and Saucer race attracts participants from various regions of North America to the Red Shores Racetrack and Casino annually. Jamieson reminisced watching the race since his early years and recalled his father’s triumph with the longshot Banner Yankee in 2006 as a favorite memory until now. He emphasized the profound impact of winning the race with Fifth and Five, labeling it as his most cherished racing accomplishment.
During the race, Jamieson maintained a strategic position behind the horse and driver in the first post position, close to the inner rail, ultimately securing victory with a time of 1:49.4. He commended Fifth and Five for possessing the ideal attributes for the track, including size, gait, and temperament, describing the horse as exceptional.
