Journalist Owen Jones was ejected from the Labour conference due to concerns about safeguarding, according to the party. The vocal supporter of Jeremy Corbyn criticized Labour, likening their actions to those of Donald Trump and expressing surprise at the revocation of his pass. Jones stated that his pass was canceled for questioning Cabinet members and MPs about Britain’s involvement in Israel’s actions, labeling it as a safeguarding issue, which he found absurd given his history of filming videos at political conferences.

In response to Jones, Labour explained their decision, citing it as a safeguarding issue to ensure the safety of all attendees. The party emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe and welcoming environment at the conference for all participants. They clarified that after careful consideration, they could not permit Jones to continue attending while upholding their safeguarding obligations.

Despite being removed from the current conference, Jones is eligible to reapply for a pass in future years. The party hopes that the decision was understood as being made in the best interest of everyone’s wellbeing.
