Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver-side seat belt buckle anchor that was not correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This issue could compromise the second-row seat belt system’s effectiveness, potentially increasing the risk of injury to passengers. While Stellantis has reported one injury linked to this problem, fortunately, there have been no fatalities associated with the recall.

The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside of North America. Stellantis will be reaching out to affected vehicle owners to arrange for inspections at dealerships. During these inspections, dealers will check the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor and make sure they are properly attached to the vehicle’s body if necessary.
