Three individuals have been taken into custody following the tragic death of a two-year-old girl in Arkansas due to a dog attack.
Earnest Jackson, 54, Christina Hart, 41, and MaKayla Jackson, 21, have been apprehended and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor in relation to the incident. The arrests were confirmed by a statement from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. It remains unclear if they have made any pleas or enlisted legal representation.
Law enforcement officers responded to the incident on March 28 after receiving a report of an animal assault involving the toddler. According to reports, a loose dog from a neighbor’s property dragged the girl into nearby woods, resulting in her tragic demise.
A police statement released details of the incident, stating that arrests were made following an investigation by the PCSO Criminal Investigations Division. The arrested individuals are currently in custody at the Regional Detention Facility. The dog suspected to be involved in the attack is under the care of the Pulaski County Animal Control Division.
In response to the heartbreaking loss, the girl’s grandmother initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist the family with funeral expenses. The campaign describes the child, Celeste, as a bright and beloved member of the family, deeply missed by all who knew her. The fundraising effort has garnered over $5,000 in donations so far.
