A search is currently ongoing for a missing baby, with authorities expressing serious concerns for the infant following the discovery of a mother and toddler’s bodies in the sea. The state emergency service and police responded to a beach in South Australia after locating a car with its engine still running. The search for the missing baby in the coastal waters of the town, located 477 kilometers southeast of Adelaide, will resume on Tuesday morning.
Superintendent Trent Cox stated that the 36-year-old mother was last seen with the baby earlier on the same day. He mentioned uncertainty about whether the baby remained with her when the vehicle was abandoned, expressing little hope for the baby’s survival due to the harsh conditions, considering the child is less than one year old.
The search for the missing child was halted due to dangerous conditions, with large waves and cold temperatures. However, SA Police will continue their efforts on Tuesday to locate the missing baby. Superintendent Cox emphasized the challenging conditions faced by emergency services and volunteers assisting in the search, acknowledging the tragedy of the situation for all involved.
Authorities have released an image of the woman’s vehicle, a white Isuzu MU-X with South Australian registration S592 BJR, urging anyone who may have seen it in specific areas on the day of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
