A British expatriate residing in Benidorm is advising families to steer clear of the tourist destination during the summer holidays, citing concerns about its suitability for children. British tourists account for half of all hotel guests in the town during the peak summer season, with many families seeking budget-friendly getaways.

Harry Poulton, a 25-year-old resident, is urging families with young children to reconsider their travel plans and explore alternative destinations due to what he perceives as safety issues for kids in Benidorm. In a widely viewed video, he recounts witnessing incidents that led him to conclude that Benidorm is not a child-friendly environment.

Expressing shock at observing inappropriate behavior in public, including a woman defecating on the street in broad daylight, Harry emphasized his belief that such occurrences make Benidorm unsuitable for children. He emphasized the importance of access to proper facilities and expressed disappointment in the current state of the city compared to its previous family-friendly reputation.

Harry also recounted encountering individuals engaging in indecent exposure during daylight hours, further raising questions about the city’s suitability for young visitors. He highlighted concerns about the changing atmosphere in Benidorm, noting an increase in activities geared towards adult entertainment rather than family-friendly experiences.

While acknowledging that certain areas of Benidorm may still cater to families, Harry cautioned tourists of all ages to avoid specific locations known for inappropriate behavior. He advised against visiting The Yellow Brick Road, Pueblo Alley, and Mugger’s Alley to ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience in the city.

Contrary to Harry’s perspective, Visit Benidorm promotes the city as a family-friendly destination in Spain, emphasizing its mild climate, child-friendly beaches, theme parks, and outdoor activities. The official statement highlights the city’s suitability for family holidays, with safe beaches, amusement parks, and accommodations tailored to families with entertainment and child-friendly services.
