The mother of missing Ben Needham has expressed doubts over the police theory that her son died in a digger accident. Kerry Needham, speaking on the 35th anniversary of his disappearance, visited the farmhouse in Kos where he went missing. She stated that the surroundings reinforced her belief that Ben was abducted, rather than meeting a tragic accident.
Ben disappeared in 1991 while playing outside the farmhouse his grandfather was renovating. Despite two searches by South Yorkshire Police suspecting a digger accident, no evidence has supported this theory. Kerry emphasized the improbability of Ben walking in extreme heat, through rough terrain, in sandals, as suggested by the police theory.
She highlighted the lack of evidence left by a potential digger accident and the discovery of decomposed blood in a toy car that did not match Ben’s DNA. Kerry urged for further investigation, expressing skepticism towards the involvement of digger driver Konstantinos Barkas, who passed away in 2015.
Kerry’s persistence in seeking answers led her to meet with a Government minister and the Mayor of South Yorkshire, Oliver Coppard. She emphasized the need for ongoing support and investigation into Ben’s disappearance, hoping for closure after 35 years of uncertainty.
Her efforts also include a documentary airing on Disney Plus, aiming to raise awareness about Ben’s case, especially in the U.S., where she fears he might have been trafficked. Kerry’s determination and appeals for help continue as she seeks the truth behind her son’s disappearance, refusing to give up until she finds answers.
