Jake Paul makes brutal Tommy Fury rematch decision after rival’s dig

Published:

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has seemingly shut the door regarding a potential rematch with long-time rival Tommy Fury. On Wednesday morning, ‘TNT’ took to Instagram, hitting out at ‘The Problem Child’ after the American expressed interest in a bout with two-time heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua.

“Good morning, guys. I just wanted to give a little opinion on everything I’ve been seeing on social media lately. Jake Paul versus Anthony Joshua,” said Fury, starting off his message.

He continued to taunt Paul, saying: “I just wanted to come on here and remind everybody that, that bum couldn’t beat me. When I beat him, I had a broken hand. I had one hand and he still lost. Jake Paul, I’m still your daddy and everybody weighing this fight up, don’t bother because it ain’t worth a shilling. And the loss will always be there Mr Paul. Take it easy and have a good day.”

Fury claimed victory over Paul on points when they faced each other in 2023. Despite this, the two have continued to exchange insults, fuelling speculation about a rematch. However, it appears that Paul has no interest in stepping back into the ring with ‘TNT’.

Responding to Fury’s verbal jab, Paul didn’t hold back. He posted on X – the platform formerly known as Twitter – stating: “Tommy Fumbles Fury…the ship has sailed mate. I’m trying to build the sport. You are trying to make a payday and hit the pub. No judgement. We are just different.”

However, fans were left scratching their heads when the post was followed by a link to a news article announcing that British super-bantamweight Ramla Ali has signed a deal with Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions. “This partnership goes beyond business; it’s about creating a legacy that will benefit every female fighter who comes after me,” Ali stated.

Paul has been busy outside the ring with MVP – a venture he co-founded with Nakisa Bidarian. The American hasn’t stepped into the ring since his victory over former heavyweight world champ, Mike Tyson, last November. After a brief hiatus, ‘The Problem Child’ is back in training and eyeing up his next bout.

In response to the stunning news that Paul is keen to take on Joshua, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has thrown a spanner in the works, asserting that no commission would ever sanction ‘The Problem Child’ to face off against ‘AJ’. “I don’t think there’s a commission, really, that should allow that kind of fight,” Hearn shared on The Sports Agents podcast. “But you know, we’ve just seen him [Jake Paul] fight a 60-year-old [Mike Tyson]. And that was ridiculous. Look, Jake Paul is an active cruiserweight, right? He’s nowhere near world level… I thought it was disgusting, to be honest with you.”
