Donald Trump has disclosed that he has given his advisors specific directives in case he is targeted for assassination by Iran. The US President’s announcement follows his recent characterization of himself as Iran’s primary focal point. Trump emphasized that he has instructed to respond by unleashing unprecedented levels of bombing if any harm befalls him.
Trump’s statement came after threats against him were made at the funeral of Iran’s late supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Addressing the issue on his Truth Social channel, Trump warned of having a vast arsenal of missiles prepared to strike Iran, showcasing a strong stance against any potential threats to his life.
The US government had previously demanded Iran to publicly affirm the open status of the Strait of Hormuz and guarantee the safety of ships navigating through the region. Recent attacks on vessels have been attributed to internal power struggles in Tehran, with hardliners attempting to disrupt peace agreements.
Although talks between the US and Iran were intended to continue, Trump made it clear that the ceasefire was in jeopardy. Negotiations centered on securing open passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical demand in previous discussions. The temporary agreement allows for free movement through the waterway for 60 days, pending a final resolution on Iran’s nuclear program.
The responsibility for managing maritime operations in the Strait of Hormuz is expected to be shared among Iran, Oman, and other Gulf states, as outlined in the agreement. Iran’s insistence on regulating ship movements through the strait has been a persistent point of contention.
This is not the first instance where Trump has expressed willingness to resort to military action if Iran poses a threat to his safety. In a previous executive order, Trump warned of severe consequences if any harm befell him, indicating a strong stance against potential threats from Iranian officials.
