A mother devastated by her toddler’s injuries has vowed not to send her child back to the nursery after an incident that resulted in the child suffering a concussion and fractures. Kimberley, the mother, received a call from Little Explorers PZ LTD in Penzance, Cornwall, informing her of a minor fall at the park. However, upon arrival, she discovered that her daughter, Amethyst, had fallen two meters off a bandstand onto a concrete wall.
Kimberley, recalling the events, expressed shock at the severity of her daughter’s injuries, which included a swollen face, split lip, and a black eye. She was disturbed by the lack of immediate medical attention and the nursery’s handling of the situation. The incident, captured on CCTV, showed her daughter being wheeled back to the nursery in a pram and allowed to sleep.
Following the traumatic experience, Little Explorers PZ LTD has been suspended by Ofsted due to concerns about potential harm to children. In a letter to parents, Ofsted explained the suspension was necessary to investigate and mitigate risks. The government department stated that the suspension would remain in place until the safety of the children could be ensured.
A hospital discharge report detailed Amethyst’s injuries, including a skull fracture and other physical trauma. Devon and Cornwall Police conducted a safeguarding inquiry but found no criminal offenses at that time. Little Explorers PZ LTD has not yet provided a response to the allegations.
The mother’s distress over the incident has raised questions about the nursery’s future and the quality of care provided. Kimberley’s decision not to return her child to the nursery highlights the gravity of the situation and the need for accountability in childcare facilities.
