I experienced a stay at what is considered the most upscale Premier Inn in the UK and was thoroughly impressed even before reaching my room. Premier Inn, the UK’s largest hotel chain, offers over 85,000 rooms in 800 locations across the country, known for its affordable rates, comfortable beds, and memorable Lenny Henry commercials. In addition to its traditional offerings, Premier Inn has introduced Zip by Premier Inn and hub by Premier, providing compact rooms at lower prices without compromising on comfort.

One particular hub, dubbed the ‘UK’s poshest Premier Inn,’ has gained popularity despite opening just this year. Situated in a former Victorian Old Bailey building in central London, its chic interiors rival those of independent boutiques. Nestled in a bustling area with various amenities nearby, the hub by Premier Inn London Farringdon (Old Bailey) stands out for its unique setting within the historic Snow Hill Police Station, a Grade II-listed structure combining Victorian charm with modern design.

Upon entering, I was captivated by the white-tiled staircase, high ceilings, arched windows, and concrete floors, evoking a sense of stepping back in time. The reception area, with its contemporary decor, offered a welcoming contrast. The communal lounge featured elegant seating arrangements under a decorative ceiling, creating a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of home.

Guests can enjoy a bar serving drinks and a dining space for breakfast, with late-night options like pizzas available. My standard room, though compact at 11sqm, utilized space efficiently, featuring storage under the bed, a desk area, and a well-appointed bathroom with clever storage solutions. The room’s layout optimized comfort, with modern amenities like electronic lighting and air conditioning controls adding convenience.

Staying at this hub felt like a unique experience, blending historic charm with modern comforts. With rates starting at £75 per night, it offered an affordable and memorable stay in central London. Whether for leisure or business, this former police station turned upscale Premier Inn provided a distinctive and comfortable lodging option.
