At least eight individuals, including four minors, sustained gunshot wounds during a mass shooting incident in Brooklyn. The New York Police Department swiftly responded to reports of gunfire in the vicinity of Coney Island, coinciding with Fourth of July festivities.

Law enforcement officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of West 31st Street around 10:37 pm on Saturday, as onlookers gathered to watch fireworks display. Witnesses observed detectives rushing to the scene outside Seapark Apartments, carrying injured youngsters to safety.

While the exact number of assailants involved and the motive behind the shooting remain unclear, local residents conveyed that such violent incidents are not uncommon in the area. Among the injured are a 37-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman, a 21-year-old woman, and four boys aged 14, 12, seven, and six, with the youngest sustaining a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

All eight victims were promptly transported to nearby hospitals, where the 21-year-old woman, who was shot in the chest, remains in critical condition. The NYPD confirmed that seven individuals are in stable condition, with ongoing medical care.
