A man from Scotland tragically lost his life in a shooting incident on the island of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines. The victim, identified as Daniel Vettrino from Dysart in Fife, was shot multiple times on Wednesday night. Authorities are currently investigating the shooting, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force responded to the scene in the Gym Hill area after receiving a call at 11:30 pm on Wednesday. Despite their efforts, Mr. Vettrino was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the heartbreaking news, the victim’s brother, Robson Vettrino Kolberg, paid tribute to him in a heartfelt Facebook post, describing him as a compassionate individual who always wished for success and happiness for those around him.
Mr. Vettrino Kolberg expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting his brother’s positive impact on numerous people both locally and globally. He mentioned his unique qualities and sense of humor, particularly noting his ability to outdrink anyone. The family is devastated by the tragedy but appreciative of the outpouring of love and support they have received.
The RSVGPF confirmed the victim’s identity as Daniel Vettrino, a 37-year-old technical services manager from Colombia/Scotland, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The authorities are actively investigating the incident, and further details will be revealed after the post-mortem examination.
The Foreign Office has stated that it is providing assistance to the family of the deceased British national in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
