A recent poll indicates that a majority of British citizens believe the decision to exit the European Union (EU) was a mistake, with over half expressing a preference to rejoin. Despite these sentiments, government officials have emphasized that there are no plans to reopen discussions on this contentious issue.

The debate on rejoining the EU has been reignited, especially among young voters who are notably supportive of the idea. While some political figures like Andy Burnham acknowledge the negative impacts of Brexit, they caution against revisiting the debate, citing the potential for prolonged division and stagnation.

Former Health Secretary Wes Streeting has proposed the notion of rejoining the EU, highlighting perceived economic and geopolitical setbacks since the referendum. However, other leaders, including Nick Thomas-Symonds, have dismissed the idea as unrealistic and urged a forward-looking approach post-Brexit.

An exclusive poll revealed that a significant portion of the populace would favor rejoining the EU if given the chance in another referendum. Support for reentry is particularly strong among younger age groups, while older demographics show a higher preference for remaining out of the EU. Calls for closer ties with Europe have been growing within the Labour Party amidst evolving public opinion on Brexit.
