A passenger described as “disruptive” was restrained by cabin crew and fellow travelers and later fell critically ill on a Jet2 flight traveling from Cyprus to Manchester.

The individual, reportedly in his 30s, had purportedly consumed a significant amount of alcohol before embarking on the five-hour journey from Larnaca with his partner on Sunday. Witnesses stated that he engaged in a dispute with his partner, leading crew members to relocate her to a different seat. Subsequently, he began acting disruptively, walking up and down the aisle and yelling at other passengers. Allegedly, he even headbutted another traveler, as per Lancashire Live.

Upon landing at Manchester Airport at 2.25 am on Monday, multiple passengers united to subdue the man. Police officers entered the aircraft and discovered that he was unresponsive. Eyewitnesses reported that officers initiated CPR and later requested a defibrillator. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the man’s condition deteriorated, and he was transported to a hospital for urgent medical attention. Passengers were asked to remain on board and provide statements regarding the incident.

One vacationer, accompanied by their partner and child, expressed the panic and distress felt during the ordeal, particularly concerning the safety of children on the plane. Another passenger recounted the escalating aggression of the disruptive individual, culminating in physical altercations that necessitated the intervention of passengers and crew members.

Law enforcement officers administered emergency medical procedures on the aircraft before transferring the individual to a medical facility. Greater Manchester Police acknowledged the ongoing investigation into the incident involving the disruptive passenger.

A spokesperson for Jet2 confirmed that Flight LS966 from Larnaca to Manchester had requested a priority landing due to the disruptive behavior of a passenger. The airline expressed concern for the individual taken to the hospital and refrained from further comments pending the investigation.
